Mackinnon Shatters 30-Year Record, Big Red Thrives at Stanford, UConn

4/2/2023 11:00:00 AM

ITHACA, N.Y. - Men's track and field went on the road for competitions at Stanford and UConn. The men aimed to build upon the opening weekend success and continue an upward trend. The Big Red concluded the UConn meet with 25 top-five finishers. All four Big Red athletes who competed at the Stanford Invitational found their way into the top-10 of their respective events.

Senior distance-runner Perry Mackinnon outran the 30-year standing Cornell 10,000-meter run record, previously set in 1994 by Cornell Hall of Famer Brian Clas '94, by 27 seconds with his first-place time of 28:33.90 at the Stanford Invitational. Tomas Kersulis (200-meter dash), Teddy O'Kane (5000-meter run), Brad Morell (shot put), Jamaur Williamson (triple-jump), and the 4x400-meter relay group bested their events which jolted the men to a first-place team completion at the UConn Dog Fight.
