4/6/2023 2:00:00 PM

ITHACA, N.Y. - The Big Red will travel to to Providence, Rhode Island this weekend to resume Ivy-League play against the Brown Bears. The squads will play in a three-game series. Friday will consist of a single game, while Saturday will conclude the series with doubleheader action.

Previously On The Diamond
The Big Red traveled to Poughkeepsie on Wednesday to face upstate New York counterpart Marist. Cornell spent a lot of time on the diamond this week, as this would be the fourth day of game action in a row. The Big Red started the battle but the Red Foxes ultimately finished it, exploding for 11 consecutive runs to rally back and earn the 11-4 victory. Sydney Stapf registered a homer and three RBI in the contest, which now has her tied for the most in the league in both categories.

Athletes To Watch
The Big Red have been a headache for opposing pitchers. Sydney Stapf, Celia Macari, and Lauren Holt have all smashed four homers beyond the fence so far this year, which is tied for first in the Ivy. Stapf has been a force to be reckon with, coming up big at the plate for Cornell, registering 19 RBI which sits her atop the league. Gabrielle Maday has her name ringing bells in the top Ivy pitchers conversation, with an ERA of 3.00 which sits her firmly at eighth in the conference. Jasmine Hsiao will be one to watch at the plate as she leads the Bears in homers. Alexis Guevara will be tough competition on the mound, as she currently sits at 2.50 ERA on the campaign.
