Big Red Football Announces Class of 2027

ITHACA, N.Y. – David Archer '05, the Roger J. Weiss '61 Head Coach of Cornell Football, and his staff are excited to announce the newest members of the Big Red Football family. The Class of 2027, featuring 23 members, will hit campus this fall looking to help Cornell to its first Ivy title on the gridiron since 1990.

Hailing from 14 different states, the Dominican Republic and the District of Columbia, a class-high four recruits played high school football in California. Florida, Maryland, New York and Pennsylvania each send two student-athletes to the Big Red, with 10 other states represented. In all, 11 of the players will join the offense and 11 will aid the defense along with one specialist.

On the defensive side of the ball, the Big Red brings in six defensive back/safeties, two linebackers and three defensive linemen. Cornell went for plenty of skill players on the offense, bringing in two wide receivers, one running back, two tight ends and a quarterback. The offensive line will also be bolstered with the addition of five student-athletes who average 6-5 and 299 pounds. 

The Big Red opens the 2023 season when it visits Lehigh on Saturday, Sept. 16 in Bethlehem, Pa. Cornell opens its home slate when it meets Central New York foe Colgate on Saturday, Sept. 30 at Schoellkopf Field for Homecoming.
