ITHACA, N.Y. -- The Cornell volleyball team has added of Tara Stilwell to the staff, the Wendy Schaenen '79 Head Coach of Volleyball,
Trudy Vande Berg, announced. Stilwell joins the team from South Hill, where she played and coached for a collective seven years.
Stilwell joins the Big Red following a year where she taught at Ithaca College, specializing in sports psychology courses. Before teaching, she served as the volleyball assistant coach for three years. She had a focus on defensive specialists in practice, but has overseen everything from social media to recruiting to game strategy planning. She has also coached for the Little Red Volleyball Club and Grandview High School.
Prior to coaching at Ithaca, Stilwell was an athlete, being a four-year starter for the Bombers while earning all-conference honors in three of her four seasons. Stilwell was a Libero/Defensive Specialist at Ithaca College, where she accumulated 1,686 digs, good for fourth all-time at Ithaca.
"I'm so excited to welcome Tara to the CUVB family," Vande Berg said. "I've known her since her playing days at IC and always appreciated her competitiveness and drive on the court. I'm excited for her to bring that energy to our staff. She gets things done and I know that she will be a great mentor to our players."
