Incoming Men’s Tennis Player Ganesan Earns Doubles Wild Card Spot at Upcoming U.S. Open

ITHACA, N.Y.-- Incoming freshman Adhithya Ganesan '27 has not played a home match at the Reis Tennis Center, but the Cornell men's tennis recruit will soon be playing in front of a national audience at the U.S. Open.

Paired with Alexander Frusina, Ganesan won the Boys 18s National Doubles title held at Kalamazoo College in Kalamazoo, Mich in a three-set thriller (6-4, 1-6, 7-6) over Nishesh Basavareddy and Kyle Kang. By virtue of this victory, Frusina and Ganesan earned wild cards into the U.S. Open doubles main draw.

Frusina and Ganesan lost only two sets in the entire tournament after entering as the eighth-overall seed.  

Ganesan's official draw in the doubles field will be released on August 27. He will either play his first round match August 30-31.

The 142nd US Open Tennis Championships will be held from August 22 - September 10, 2023, at the USTA Bille Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing Meadows–Corona Park in Queens, N.Y. The tournament will be live on the ESPN family of networks and ESPN+.
