BETHLEHEM, Pa. — The No. 23 Lehigh Mountain Hawks used a late rally to defeat the No. 9 Cornell wrestling team 17-16 on Saturday afternoon at Leeman-Turner Arena at Grace Hall. The Big Red fell to 4-3 (1-1 EIWA) and suffered its first EIWA loss this season, while the Mountain Hawks won their second straight dual to improve to 2-3 (2-0 EIWA).
The Big Red built a 16-8 lead by winning five of the first seven matches, with victories from Vince Cornella (141), Ethan Fernandez (149), Meyer Shapiro (157), Julian Ramirez (165) and Chris Foca (184). Lehigh won the last three matches of the dual, securing the victory with Luke Stanich's 2-0 decision over Brett Ungar.
The Mountain Hawks have won four of the last five meetings in the series.
