#6 Big Red Rolls Past Harvard, 7-2

ITHACA, N.Y. - The no. 6-ranked Cornell womens ice hockey team defeated the Harvard Crimson 7-2 at Lynah Rink on Saturday evening. The Big Red improved to 17-5-1, while the Crimson fell to 4-17-2.

Izzy Daniel, Avi Adam (two), Grace Dwyer (two), Ashley Messier, and Georgia Schiff registered Big Red goals on the night. Messier, Delianedis, Yu, Regalado, Rud, Jockims, Van Gelder, Daniel, and Perron-Roy logged assists. 14 Cornellians recorded a point in the game, seven of which had multiple points.

The Big Red women started off fast, putting 21 shots on the goal in the first period of play. Three of those pucks would make it past Alex Pellici to give Cornell a 3-0 advantage after one stanza. Daniel, Adam, and Dwyer earned those tallies in that period.

The second period became more of a back-and-forth between the Ivy League rivals. Messier gave Cornell its seventh short-handed goal this season and a 4-0 lead early in the second. The Crimson made it interesting by netting consecutive goals to pull back within two. Late in that frame Schiff extended the lead to three when she netted a much-needed goal.

Dwyer and Adam put in their second goals of the night in the final period which is all Cornell would need to take home the victory and sweep the weekend.

Annelies Bergmann collected seven saves and moved to 13-4-1 between the pipes on the season.
