ITHACA, N.Y. —The Cornell sprint football team lost to Army 55-0 on Friday and fell to 2-4 on the season, while the Black Knights moved to 6-0 on the season and secured a spot in the championship game.
Army started out strong on both offense and defense and never lost its momentum throughout the game. The Black Knight's most used quarterback of the night, Carson McFadden went 11-for-16 for 146 yards and two touchdowns. Henry Beck led Army in rushing with a net 202 yards and three touchdowns and Matthew Tilley led in receiving with three receptions for 55 yards and one touchdown. Army's defense had four sacks and one interception.
Cornell's offense struggled to get production as the starting quarterback, Evan Nicholas, went 12-for-32 for 87 yards and four sacks. Nicholas led the Big Red in rushing with 14 carries for a net 109 yards and Leo Madera Castellanos led the team in receiving with four carries for 15 yards. Cornell's defense had one sack and two tackles for loss.
With this loss and moving to 2-4 on the season Cornell now looks toward its final game of the season, senior night on Schoellkopf field on Friday, Nov. 8 at 7:00 p.m., to end the season on a high note.
