Luke Banbury and
Jameson Wang were chosen to the All-Ivy League first team to lead seven Cornell players chosen to all-conference teams on Tuesday after a vote by its eight head coaches. The Big Red had two chosen to the second team and three more earned honorable mention accolades.
First Team All-Ivy
Luke Banbury (Sr., LB, Pittsburgh, Pa.)
STATS: 87 tackles (46-41), 6.5 tackles for loss, 2.5 sacks, 2 interceptions, 5 pass breakups, 2 forced fumbles, 2 fumble recoveries
• Two-time Ivy League Defensive Player of the Week and one-time national Defensive Player of the Week.
• Led the Ivy League in total tackles and was top 10 in the league in fumbles forced and recovered, tackles for loss, pass breakups, interceptions and passes defended.
• Led a defense that ranked in the top half of the Ivy League in turnovers created, forced fumbles and interceptions.
• Had at least seven tackles in all seven Ivy games, averaging 9.1 tackles per game.
• Was in double figures for tackles three times with a season-high of 13.
Jameson Wang (Sr., QB, El Segundo, Calif.)
STATS: 109 carries for 500 rushing yards and 7 touchdowns, 4.6 yards per carry; 244-for-378 for 2,533 yards with 24 touchdowns, 11 interceptions, .646 completion percentage; 31 touchdowns accounted for (single-season school record)
• Led the Ivy League in passing yards (2,533), passing touchdowns (24), total offense (303.3 yards per game) and points responsible for (188), with his 18.8 points responsible for per game ranking first in the FCS.
• Fourth in the Ivy League in rushing yards per carry (4.6) and rushing touchdowns (7).
• First player in the history of the Ivy League with 50 passing touchdowns and 25 rushing touchdowns in a career.
• Top two in the Ivy League in eight offensive categories and top 10 in the FCS in four.
• Had six games with 250+ passing yards, four with 50+ rushing yards and eight games with 3 or more touchdowns accounted for.
• Named Ivy League Offensive Player of the Week once in 2024.
• Started each of the final 30 games of his collegiate career, the longest streak in Big Red history.
• Finished third in career passing (6,959 yards) and 10th in career rushing (1,816 yards) while accounting for 78 career touchdowns (No. 2 all-time at Cornell).
Second Team All-Ivy
Samuel Musungu (So., WR, Andover, Minn.)
STATS: 83 receptions for 960 yards and 10 touchdowns, 11.6 yards per catch
• Led the Ivy League in receptions (83, second nationally) and receiving touchdowns (10, No. 9 nationally) while placing second in receiving yards (960).
• His 10 touchdowns scored led all Ivy League players.
• Notched a pair of 100-yard games and had two contests with 14 receptions, the most by a Big Red player in a single game (tied for the fifth-most in a game in the FCS this season and one off a school record).
• Had at least five catches in each game and four contests with 100 or more all-purpose yards.
• Had a pair of multiple touchdown games, including matching the school's single-game record with three against Penn.
• Had an 82-yard catch at Princeton as part of a career-best 165-yard day.
Jack Powers (Sr., OL, St. Louis, Mo.)
STATS: 9 games, 9 starts
• Started nine games at right guard.
• Paved the way for an offense that ranked second in the Ivy League and seventh nationally in sacks (0.90 per game) allowed and was first in the Ivy League and third in the FCS tackles for loss allowed (3.1 per game).
• The team's total offense total of 412.6 yards per game was 26th nationally (third in Ivy League).
• The offensive line he anchored allowed one or fewer sacks in eight games this season.
• The line tied the school record for fewest sacks allowed in a season (9 in 2021).
Honorable Mention All-Ivy
Damon Barnes (Sr., DB, Stamford, Conn.)
STATS: 65 tackles (48-17), 3.5 TFL, 2 INTs, 3 PBUs, 1 FR
• Ranked second on the team in tackles and tied for the team lead in interceptions (2).
• Recorded double-digit tackles against Penn (12) and Columbia (13).
• Intercepted two passes, broke up another and had eight tackles at Brown.
• Credited with five or more tackles in seven contests.
• Started all 10 games in the defensive backfield.
Ryder Kurtz (So., TE, Stamford, Conn.)
STATS: 36 receptions for 441 yards and 4 touchdowns, 12.3 yards per catch
• Set school records for touchdown receptions in a game (2) and season (4) by a tight end.
• Second on the team in both receptions and receiving yards.
• His four catches against Penn went for 101 yards, his first career 100-yard game.
• Hauled in a pair of touchdown passes in the win at Princeton.
• Also caught touchdown passes against Yale and Harvard.
• Blocked for a team that averaged 148.2 yards per game on the ground, the second-best season total for the Big Red in more than 15 seasons.
Alan Zhao (So., PK, Marriottsville, Md.)
STATS: 13-of-14 FGs, long 48, 11-12 beyond 30 yards, 33-of-34 PATs, 72 points
• Led the Ivy League in field goals per game (1.3) and field goal percentage (.929, second nationally).
• Second in the Ivy League in scoring (7.2 points per game).
• Began his career by making 10 consecutive field goals without a miss.
• His 72 points ranked second in a season all-time by a Big Red kicker.
• Named the Ivy League Special Teams Player of the Week after connecting on a school-record four field goals and posting a Big Red record 15 kicking points in the win over then-No. 22 Dartmouth.
• Also served as the team's kickoff specialist.
