ITHACA, N.Y. -- Sophomore Ryder Kurtz was named to the Associated Press honorable mention All-America team on Tuesday evening. He is the first Big Red player to earn AP All-America honors since Nick Gesualdi '18 was a third-team selection in 2016 and one of six Ivy League players mentioned on the All-America team.

Kurtz, an honorable mention All-Ivy pick this season, was 36 passes for 441 yards and four touchdowns while averaging 12.3 yards per catch. He was second on the team in receptions and receiving yards and set school records for touchdown receptions in a game (two) and season (four) by a tight end. He hauled in four passes for 101 yards against Penn for his first 100-yard game, hauled in a pair of touchdown passes in the win at Princeton and also hauled in scores vs. Yale and Harvard. Kurtz was also critical in blocking for an offense that averaged 148.2 yards per game on the ground, the second-best season total for the Big Red in more than 15 seasons, and a line that surrendered a school-record low nine sacks.

The Big Red finished the 2024 season with a 4-6 overall record and a 3-4 conference mark, good for fifth place in the final Ivy standings. Cornell will return 13 starters, including nine on the offensive end, when the 2025 campaign kicks off in September.
