ITHACA, N.Y. – Cornell wrestling wraps up the first day of the Cliff Keen Invitational in Las Vegas in 11^th of 30 with 29 team points and three wrestlers heading into final rounds.

Simon Ruiz will be competing for first place starting in the semi-final round against Dean Hamiti Jr of Oklahoma State. Marcello Milani and Ethan Fernandez will both wrestle for third.

Top Highlights

• Freshman Ruiz (174 pounds) earned his first win over a ranked opponent with a 6-1 decision over No. 24 Matthew Singleton of NC State. He followed it up with a win over No. 9 Lenny Pinto (Nebraska) to send him to the semifinals.
• Fernandez beat No. 16 Jesse Vasquez (Arizona State) 11-4.
• Evan Canoyer beat Mike McGhee (Sacred Heart) 17-2 with four takedowns and one nearfall.
