ITHACA, N.Y. — The Cornell women's basketball team lost to Lehigh University by a score of 73-51 on Sunday afternoon in Ithaca. This moves the Big Red to 3-8 overall on the season.
Sunday's game proved to be a challenge defensively for the Big Red as they allowed 42 points in three-pointers from Lehigh. In the first quarter, the Mountain Hawks went on three multi-point runs which gave them a 19-8 lead. In the second, Cornell was able to go on a six-point run of its own and cut the deficit to eight going into halftime. In the third quarter, Lehigh hit eight three-pointers to extend its lead to 57-44. In the final quarter, Lehigh dominated, scoring 16 points to Cornell's seven.
Summer Parker-Hall led Cornell in scoring with 14 points, six rebounds and one block. Azareya Kilgoe led in assists with four and Audrey Chen, Paige Engels and Emily Pape led the team in steals with one apiece.
Lehigh out-shot Cornell both from the field and from behind the arc. The Mountain Hawks shot 46.7 percent to the Big Red's 44.7 percent from the field and 45.2 percent to Cornell's 16.7 percent from three. Cornell out-shot Lehigh from the free throw line with 77.8 percent to Lehigh's 50 percent.
