ITHACA, N.Y. -- Cornell women's tennis extended its win streak to four with a 7-0 sweep over St. Bonaventure on Saturday afternoon. The Big Red moved to 7-8 with the win, while the Bonnies dropped to 6-11.
Cornell got of with a hot start in doubles play.
Lauren Stein and
Michelle Ryndin posted a quick 6-3 win over Isabella Venter and Anastasia Gubanova in the no. 1 match.
Emma Baker and
Martina Marica followed suit with a 6-1 win over Kashish Bote and Kelly Barnes in the no. 3 match.
Jenny Wong and
Victoria Zhao had their match cut short with the point already won, but the duo had a 4-2 lead already built out in the no. 2 match.
Singles play showcased the same Big Red dominance, with
Seychelle Balog kicking things off with a 6-1, 6-0 win over Kelly Barnes in the no. 6 match.
Jenny Wong grabbed the no. 3 singles game with a 6-2, 6-2 win over Abbie Tyler. Michell Ryndin topped Isabella Venter, 6-1, 6-2, in the no. 1 match to claim the winning point for the Big Red. In the no. 4 match,
Tanya Fan posted a 6-1, 6-1 win over Sienna Smith to stretch the lead to 5-0.
Emma Baker defeated Anastasia Gubanova, 6-1, 6-4, in the no. 2 singles match.
Martina Marica rounded out the day with a 6-3, 2-6, 10-4 win over Kashish Bote in the no. 5 singles.
Cornell returns to the court with the Ivy opener when it takes on Columbia on Saturday, March 30. Matches will begin at 12 p.m. in New York, N.Y.
