ITHACA, N.Y. -- The Cornell swimming and diving team will send four divers to compete at this week's NCAA Zone A Diving Championships from DeNunzio Pool in Princeton, N.J. The three-day championship runs Monday, March 11 through Wednesday, March 13, with coverage of each day of competition available to stream on ESPN Plus. The women's competition begins at 10:30 a.m. on both Monday and Tuesday before the finals on Wednesday at 11 a.m. On the flip side, the men's competition begins at noon on Monday and Tuesday with the finals commencing on Wednesday at 2 p.m.
On the women's side, freshmen Brooke Andrews and Morgan Ogata will suit up for their first chance to qualify for the NCAA Championships in their Big Red careers. Shifting to the men's side, junior Soodong Kim will head to zones for the second straight season, looking to best his 37th place from last season. Senior Matthew Warren rounds out the field of competitors for the Big Red as the Virginia product heads to zones for the first time in his career for Cornell.Â
BROOKE ANDREWS
Andrews comes off a strong performance in her first season on East Hill. Competing in all eight of Cornell's meets and the 2024 Ivy League Championships, the freshman had scores of 250.00 or better 11 times combined across the 1-meter and 3-meter diving competitions. Her best 3-meter performance came in Cornell's final regular season meet of the season against Brown (307.20), while her best 1-meter score came in the Big Red's second meet of the season in Ithaca against Binghamton (273.00)
MORGAN OGATA
Ogata will represent the Big Red in the 3-meter at the Zone A Championships. Ogata competed in the event during all nine of Cornell's meets in 2023-24, scoring 240.00 or higher five times. Her highest point total came in Cornell's second meet of the season against Binghamton, as she earned the top spot in the meet with a score of 287.48.Â
SOODONG KIM
Kim will hit the diving board in the 1-meter and 3-meter events from DeNunzio Pool. The junior suited up for the Big Red in every regular season meet and the 2024 Ivy Championships. Looking at his 1-meter scores, Kim crossed the 300 point threshold four times and scored his best point total of 321.23 to take the top spot in Cornell's season opener against Binghamton. On the 3-meter side, Kim scored 300 or higher in five meets this season, with his best performance coming with a 340.73 to earn first overall in Cornell's final home meet against Brown.
MATTHEW WARREN
Warren will suit up for his first trip to zones in his final season representing the Big Red. The senior represented the red and white for eight meets this season, including this year's Ivy Championships. His best 1-meter score (300.60) came in a bronze showing at Columbia, while his top 3-meter score came in another podium finish during Cornell's final meet of the regular season against Brown (329.70).Â
UP NEXT
Should either of the four qualify, they will move on to the 2024 NCAA Championships hosted by the University of Georgia on March 20-23 from Jack Bauerle Pool at the Gabrielsen Natatorium in Athens, Georgia.
