ITHACA, N.Y. — The Cornell University equestrian team hosts the Northeast Regional Championship on Sunday, March 10, at 9:30 a.m. at the Oxley Equestrian Center.

The Big Red is looking to qualify riders for the Zone 2 Championships and take first place in the regional for the second straight year.

Notes on the Big Red

  • Cornell has finished first in six of its eight events this season.

  • At the Alfred Show on Feb. 24, Posie Price (open fences), Caly Stewart (intermediate fences), Emily Pecsok (limit fences), Jianna Simcik (limit fences), Mikayla Lin (limit flat) and Natalie Morris (novice) took first place in their divisions. Simcik, who also took second in limit flat, received Reserve High Point rider.

  • Uma Comfort (introductory) and Jenna Stickley (introductory) also took second in their divisions.

  • Cornell finished with a perfect scorecard at the first Cornell show on Oct. 22.

  • That was Cornell's first of two perfect scorecards of the fall season. The second came at the Alfred Show on Nov. 4. Head coach Joanna Novakovic, in her 10th season in charge of the Big Red, said that marked the first time her team posted two perfect scorecards in a row.
