Dartmouth Sweeps Softball

HANOVER, NH. -- The Dartmouth Big Green completed a three-game sweep of the Cornell softball team on Sunday with a 4-0 shutout win over the Big Red at the Dartmouth Softball Park.

The Big Green improved to 12-15 overall and 8-7 in the Ivy League this weekend, while the Big Red fell to 6-24 overall and 3-12 in the league. Two weeks remain in the regular season.

The Big Green scored one run in the third inning, two in the fourth and one more in the fifth. Pitcher Jensin Hall earned the win in the circle, working six innings and striking out 11 Big Red batters. She allowed one hit.

A Big Red error led to Dartmouth's run in the third. An RBI double from Justice Malone and a run-scoring single from Ashley Frantz put the Big Green ahead 3-0. Oliva Schramm drove in Dartmouth's fourth run in the fifth with a bunt single.

Freshman Hailey Pirkey and senior Lilly Travieso had the lone hits in the ballgame for the Big Red. Kyrie Denny pitched five innings, allowing all four runs (three earned).
