CORTLAND, N.Y. - The Big Red men's track and field team had an eventful weekend, competing at the Virginia Challenge and the Cortland Classic. Four athletes took victories in Cortland, while
Damian Hackett and
Rhys Hammond were top-10 finishers in the 1500-meter run at the Virginia Classic. Hackett's finish set a new school record.
Hackett ran the 1500-meter run in a time of 3:41.34 to take second and set a new Big Red record. Hammond was a few places back, crossing the tape in the fifth spot with a strong time of 3:43.30.
At the Cortland Classic, Jacob Patonya was the 800-meter champion, pacing a mark of 1:55.64. Adam Martinson was the first-place runner in the 3000-meter steeplechase with to a 9:41.39 finish.
Shane Racey earned the top spot in the pole vault with his 5.25-meter mark. Daniel McKay won the discus with his 46.34-meter throw.Â

The Cornell men's track and field team will split up for a two-meet weekend, hosting the Big Red Invite at Kane Sports Complex on Sunday, Apr. 28, and traveling to the City of Brotherly Love for competition at the Penn Relays (Thursday, Apr. 25 - Saturday, Apr. 27) at Franklin Field.
