ITHACA, N.Y. -- Cornell women's tennis battled hard against #49 Yale, winning the doubles point to open the day, but could not close out, dropping 4-1 to the Bulldogs. With the loss, Cornell fell to 8-14 (1-6 Ivy) while Yale improved to 16-8 (4-3 Ivy).
Cornell dominated the doubles play in the contest.
Jenny Wong and
Victoria Zhao took just 28 minutes to take a 6-0 sweep over Shyla Aggarwal and Jamie Kim in the No. 2 match.
Michelle Ryndin and
Alexandra Savu wrapped up the point for the Big Red with a 6-4 win in the No. 3 match over Ann-Wright Guerry and Rebecca Lynn.
Lauren Stein and
Emma Baker's No. 1 doubles match against Orly Ogilvy and Mirabelle Bretttkelly went down as unfinished with the points awarded.
The Bulldogs stormed back in the singles matches, Jamie Kim bested
Alexandra Savu in the No. 6 match, 6-0, 6-3. Rebecca Lynn followed to give Yale its first lead of the afternoon at 2-1 with a 6-1, 6-2 win over
Jenny Wong in the No. 4 match. Mirabelle Brettkelly came next with a 7-6, 6-2 win over
Michelle Ryndin at the No. 2 spot. Orly Ogilvy completed the comeback with a 3-6, 6-3, 6-2 win over
Lauren Stein in the No. 1 match.
Emma Baker's No. 2 match and
Victoria Zhao's No. 3 math, which each had been pushed to a decisive third set, ended unfinished.
