Wei, King, Morell, Whitley Post Wins For Men's Track and Field At Penn Invite

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - The Cornell men's track and field team collected six event wins at the Penn Invitational on Saturday at Franklin Field. Justin Wei earned the crown in the 110-meter hurdles. Ryder King stood atop the 400-meter hurdles on the day. Brad Morell stood tall in the throws, winning the shot put, discus, and the hammer throw. Desmond Whitley took initiative in the jumps, leading the competition in the triple jump.

Wei recorded a 14.38-second 110-meter hurdles performance to take the gold. King placed first in the 400-meter hurdles due to his 53.50-second finish. Morell registered a 53.29-meter discus throw, 59.77-meter hammer throw, and 16.77-meter shot put, which was strong enough to give him three event-victories. Whitley's 14.52-meter triple jump paved the way for another Big Red event-win on the day, and helped the Big Red to a sweep in the triple jump (Whitley, Coleman, Antwi took top-three).

Domenic Barresi was a runner-up in the 200-meter dash. Fabien De Silva also claimed a second-place finish, with his 48.29-second time in the 400-meter dash. Shane Racey (pole vault - 4.98 meters), Noah Harman (shot put - 16.16 meters), and Kameron Coleman (triple jump - 14.47 meters) took second-place results. Jacob Patonya led gun-to-tape in his heat, and stood as the highest Big Red finisher in the 1500-meter run, taking 14th (4:02.12).

The Cornell men's track and field team will compete in the Bison Outdoor Classic next weekend, which is set to be hosted by Bucknell University on Friday and Saturday.
