ITHACA, N.Y. — Cornell men's track and field opened its 2025–26 indoor campaign with a strong showing on home turf, turning in multiple event wins and standout debuts across two days of competition at the Greg Page Relays inside Barton Hall. The Big Red hosted Syracuse, Toronto, Binghamton, SUNY Cortland, Ithaca College and Le Moyne.
DAY 1 — FRIDAY HIGHLIGHTS
Cornell's middle-distance squad delivered a commanding early-season statement in the mile, sweeping the top six positions. First-year Will Hauser won his collegiate debut in 4:14.14, followed closely by Tyler Tisinger (4:15.57) and Hunter Celkupa (4:15.62). Veterans Finn Boyle, Asher Patel and Zachary Winnicki rounded out the sweep.
In the field, All-Ivy contender Noah Harman opened his senior season with a winning mark of 17.24m in the shot put, leading a Red 1–4 sweep that included Joe Seib (16.96m), Peter Northrup (16.53m) and Nicholas Frattina (15.27m).
Freshman Ogden Lucsik made an impressive debut in the pole vault, clearing 4.80m to finish tied for second.
Cornell also impressed in the long jump, where junior Stepan Matura took third at 7.10m, and teammates Ryan Antwi and Kameron Coleman also placed inside the top 11.
In multi-events, freshman Kyle Velasco opened his Cornell career with a third-place finish in the heptathlon (4543 points), highlighted by strong efforts in the hurdles, high jump and 1000m.
DAY 2 — SATURDAY HIGHLIGHTS
Cornell showed depth in the sprints and relays on Day 2. Sophomore Ricardo Lagares Jr. advanced to the 60m final and placed fourth in 6.83, clocking one of the faster early-season times in the Ivy League.
The Red dominated the 300m, where Panashe Nhenga finished second in 34.82, followed closely by seniors Ryder King (34.94) and Michael Mazero (35.16). Cornell packed five athletes inside the top 12.
In distance action, sophomore Andrew Ordway took runner-up honors in the 3000m (8:48.09) with freshman teammates Benjamin Gibson and Brandon Gent placing third and fifth respectively.
Cornell's jumpers stole the show in the triple jump with a 1–2–3 sweep:
• Desmond Whitley — 14.86m (winner)
• Ryan Antwi — 14.56m
• Kameron Coleman — 14.33m
In the weight throw, sophomore Peter Northrup added a runner-up finish at 19.01m, and first-year Aidan Kerr placed seventh at 16.02m.
The Red capped the meet with a runner-up finish in the 4x400m relay. The quartet of Panashe Nhenga, Ryder King, Seamus Finn and Michael Mazero clocked 3:19.25, closing strongly behind Binghamton.
