Winkler '17 Clinches Third Consecutive U.S. Olympic Team Spot

ITHACA, N.Y. -  Over the past two weeks 16 Cornell track and field alumni and current athletes have represented five different countries in their respective national championships and world team trials. Most notably for the men's team, Rudy Winkler '17 has clinched his third consecutive United States Olympic team membership following his 78.89-meter hammer throw to take silver this evening at the World Team trials.

Below are the Big Red men who took action on the world stage:

Event(s): Hammer Throw
Result(s): 78.89 meters, Winker takes silver and clinches a spot on the U.S. Olympic Team for the third consecutive cycle.

Max Hairston '16
Competition/Location: US Olympic Trials / Hayward Field / Eugene, OR
Event(s): 110m Hurdles
Result(s): DQ in preliminary round, Hairston saw action in his second Olympic Trials appearance.

Perry MacKinnon '23
Competition/Location: Bell Trials / Claude-Robillard Sports Complex / Montreal, QC
Event(s): 1500m
Result(s): Mackinnon took 24th-place in the qualifying round, running 3:54.13.

Ryder King '26
Competition/Location: Bell Trials / Claude-Robillard Sports Complex / Montreal, QC
Event(s): 400m Hurdles, 110m hurdles
Result(s): King earned a 400-meter hurdles time of 55.62. He saw action in the 110-meter hurdles as well, earning a time of 14.39 to take sixth in the finals.

Result(s): Barresi sprinted a 10.35-second time for third in his heat and 10th overall.
