ITHACA, N.Y. -- The Big Red football program will host its first Cornell Football CUBS Camp on Saturday, Aug. 17 from 1-3 p.m. The free clinic will include activities for children ages 12 and under as well as their parents with the first 200 registrants receiving a free Cornell football t-shirt. Football fans of all ages are welcome and encouraged to attend.
Members of the Cornell football team will lead on-field skill stations to give children a chance to learn and practice football skills in a fun and supportive environment. Photo stations will allow families to capture memorable moments with the Big Red team, while the Cornell Dairy Bar will provide attendees with free ice cream.
"As Cornell football players, we couldn't be more excited for this upcoming season and want to share that feeling with the local community," said student-athlete organizers Ben Sahakian '26 and Maxwell Van Fleet '25. "We want to do everything we can to capture the imagination of the youth in the community, to introduce them to the type of role models we had growing up, and to energize football fans of all ages in the Ithaca area and beyond. We believe that Cornell Football CUBS Camp will be a great kickoff to this new era in Big Red football."
Participants are encouraged to wear sneakers and casual clothing in anticipation of light on-field activities. Parking is available in the Crescent Lot. All activities will be on Schoellkopf Field, but in the case of rain, the festivities will take place in the Ramin Room
"I'm thrilled to be a part of our upcoming Football CUBS Camp," said Dan Swanstom, the Roger J. Weiss '61 Head Coach of Cornell Football. "This is a fantastic opportunity to engage with our community, teach the safest techniques in football, and ignite excitement for Cornell football. Our players are dynamic and passionate, and we know that the more our community interacts with them, the more our fan base will grow."
Registration for the event is free, but participants must register in advance and sign a liability waiver. Please note that parent(s) and/or guardian(s) must remain on site and in attendance for the duration of the clinic.
