ITHACA, N.Y. — The Cornell women's lacrosse team announced its 2024 team awards, captains for the upcoming year, and its schedule for the fall season this morning.

Seven annual awards were handed out to Big Red players from last year's team. All of the awards are named after former players who exemplify characteristics that Jenny Graap, the Karin Bain Kukral '82 Head Coach of Women's Lacrosse, wants to pass onto her team year after year.

Jaimee Reynolds Best All-Around Player: Bridget Babcock '24

Babcock was a dual threat on the field, totaling 32 points (18 goals, 14 assists) over 13 games played while leading the team in ground balls (29) and caused turnovers (19). She also posted 16 draw controls.

Mary Beth Delaney Best Defensive Player: Hilary Hoover '24

Hoover, a two-time captain, earned First Team All-Ivy honors for the Red and White after recording 19 ground balls, seven caused turnovers, and 31 draw controls in 15 appearances for the Big Red, all of which were starts.

Meg Bantley Best Offensive Players: Josie Vogel '25 and Kylie Gelabert '25

Vogel and Gelabert's combined efforts fueled the team's offense and showcased their all-around impact on the game as both juniors started and played in all 15 games.

Vogel totaled a team-high 35 goals and 47 points for the Big Red while registering 12 ground balls and five caused turnovers.

Gelabert, who finished second in offensive production with 41 points, led Cornell in assists (20). She also posted 13 ground balls, four caused turnovers, and five draw controls.

Shea Maultsby 3-D Award (Drive, Determination, Dedication): Caitlin Slaminko '25

Serving as a captain during the 2024 season, Slaminko showed her "3-D" ability in multiple means from securing the ball off the draw 32 times and posting 24 points, 21 of which came on goals. Her leadership on and off the field inspired her teammates.

Caroline Salisbury Most Improved Player: Dylan Madigan '28

In her first season with the Big Red, Madigan played 12 games and scored four goals with a perfect shooting percentage.

Lindsay Toppe Leadership Award: Ellie Bergin '28

"Big Red underclasswoman who displays outstanding selfless leadership, excels in the classroom and on the field, and sets a consistent positive example for her teammates."

Bergin played in all 15 games for the Big Red last season, recording three goals, three ground balls, two caused turnovers and three draw controls.

Katherine Simmons BRICK Award: Mackenzie Clark '27

"Player who sets the example with consistent hard work during practice and games."

Clark, a sophomore, played in 11 games. In her first start for the Big Red, Clark played all 60 minutes against Penn on April 13, making a season-high 10 saves. She posted a 1-2 record and recorded a team-leading .438 save percentage for the season.

Three Captains Named for Upcoming Season

2025 WLAX Captains

Graap also named three captains for the upcoming 2025 campaign on Monday. Slaminko will return for her second year as captain and be joined by senior Lucy Dwyer and junior Caitlin Tully.

Slaminko returns for her final campaign looking to exhibit the versatility she displayed this past season.

"I can't say enough about her leadership," Graap said. "She is a very capable and reliable player on the field."

Dwyer, a native of Wynnewood, Pa., returns to the Big Red after recording three goals and four assists during the 2024 season. Across her 12 appearances, she recorded six ground balls and caused a pair of turnovers.

"Lucy has carved her niche with the Big Red with her knowledge and lacrosse IQ and the way she sees the field," Graap said. "She's very cerebral and a very good decision-maker. She's someone we rely on to help facilitate the offense because she understands and can see it."

Tully rounds out the 2025 captains as she will wear the 'C' on her uniform after just two years with the Big Red. Last season, Tully scooped up 12 ground balls, caused nine turnovers, and earned 11 draw controls during her sophomore campaign.

"Her teammates recognize and rely on her knowledge, poise, composure, and competitiveness," Graap stated. "She's consistent, and to achieve that, after just her sophomore year, being voted a team captain, is really special. She is a great player."
