Haquet Set School Record Alongside Multiple Personal Best at Upstate Challenge

ITHACA N.Y. – Cornell women's track and field won nine events at the Upstate Challenge on Saturday in Barton Hall. The Big Red set a school record and facility record to go along with the wins.

Augustine Haquet set a facility record for Barton Hall in the 1000m as she led majority of the race to place first with a personal best time of 2:43.33 and now has the fastest time in the Cornell History books for the 1000m.

The Big Red took six of the top seven spots in the 1000m with Gwen Parks (2:45.75) and Madelyn Poole (2:57.99) behind Haquet. The women also took the top five spots in the 400m as Francine Stevens (57.00), with a personal best time, Reyne Rodrigues (57.45) and Elise Sawyer (58.63) swept the podium.

Mairead Clas won the mile with a time of 4:54.31 and a 23 second cushion from second place finisher Lucia Werner (5:17.37). Sierra Burror took first in the 3000m with a personal-best time of 10:34.39, almost 45 seconds ahead of the rest of the field.

Imani Reid won the 200m in 24.91 seconds with Glenn Parker (25.57), Sawyer (25.70), with a career-best time, and Takiya Henson (25.75) right behind her.

Quincy Hansen set a career high pole vault mark of 4.05m to finish in first place. Syna Sony won the high jump with a personal best mark of 1.74m as Noelle Elkinton (15.04), Charli Stewart (13.85) and Nicole Loy (13.30), with a personal-best throw, swept the shot put.

For the relays, the Cornell team consisting of Jordanne Nichols, Riley Ebersole, Sharlyn Ramirez-Castillo and Imani Reid ran the 4x400 in a time of 4:02.14 to take first place.
