ITHACA, N.Y. -- The Cornell men's tennis team continues its fall slate this weekend at the Holmes Cathrall Memorial Invitational, hosted by Penn State from Oct. 3-5 at the Sarni Tennis Center. The tournament marks the third consecutive road event to open the 2025-26 season for the Big Red and will feature the host school, as well as Buffalo, Columbia, Florida and Navy.
Junior
Rodrigo Fernandes has been the story of the early season, racing out to a perfect 6-0 start in singles play across two invitationals. At last weekend's Yale Invitational, Fernandes rolled through straight-set wins over opponents from Princeton and Yale, while adding two doubles wins alongside classmate
Felipe Pinzon. The pair has now gone 5-1 together in doubles, helping Cornell build depth in its lineup.
Pinzon added a gritty three-set singles win over Princeton's Milan Markovits, while senior
Aman Sharma posted a straight-sets win on opening day. Sharma and
Rushil Khosla also earned a doubles victory against Columbia, contributing to a six-singles, four-doubles win weekend for the Big Red against Ivy League competition.
Through the first two weekends of competition, Cornell has tallied 16 singles wins and eight doubles victories, with Fernandes (6-0), freshman
Nathan Gold (3-0), and Senthil Kumar (2-1) all making strong early impressions.
