Cornell Volleyball Shows Its Grit in Four-Set Win Over Brown

ITHACA, N.Y. — Cornell women's volleyball gritted out a four-set victory over Brown on Friday night at Newman Arena, winning 25–17, 25–22, 16–25, 25–22 to remain perfect in Ivy League play. The Big Red improved to 4–0 in the conference and 9–5 overall — the only unbeaten team left in the Ivy standings.

On the offense, senior Eliza Konvicka (14) led the way with 15 kills and 16 total points, while sophomore Mackenzie Parsons (20) followed with 12 kills on an efficient .346 hitting percentage. Ava Bogan (16) was a force at the net, posting nine kills and a team-best four blocks, and senior setter Doga Ozalp (7) contributed 24 assists and eight digs.

The Big Red came out swinging, hitting .440 in the opening set and controlling play at the net. Cornell claimed the first set with a score of 25 to 15. In the second, play heated up and Cornell edged out the match win by 3 points, 25-22. Brown fought back in the third, taking advantage of extended rallies and Cornell service errors, ultimately winning their only set of the match 26 to 16. In the decisive fourth, Cornell sided out efficiently and leaned on its depth to seal the win. The final play of the game came with a big block from middle blocker, Ava Bogan (16) and setter Doga Ozalp (7).

Cornell's bench made a major impact vs Brown, with Jaida Sione (24) and CJ Holdsworth (4) delivering clutch plays down the stretch — part of a lineup that showcased the team's deep and balanced roster.

The night took an unfortunate turn in the third set when Haley Clark, Cornell's left-handed outside hitter, exited after scoring on a kill. The sophomore had been a steady contributor throughout the match before leaving with an injury.

In total, Cornell tallied 54 kills to Brown's 39 and out-dug the Bears 60–54 in a hard-fought, emotional battle that had 22 ties and 10 lead changes.

The Big Red will look to extend their Ivy win streak when they host Yale on Saturday at 6 p.m. inside Newman Arena.
