ITHACA, N.Y. -- Dr.
Nicki Moore, the Meakem & Smith Director of Athletics and Physical Education, announced Monday that there will be a change in leadership of the Cornell lightweight rowing program following the resignation of
Tyler Nase, who spent the past four seasons as the Henry E. Bartels '48 Head Coach of Lightweight Rowing. A national search for the new head coach will begin immediately.
"Coach Nase is a world-class competitor, and I appreciate the energy and effort he invested in the lightweight rowing program during his time at Cornell. We wish him well in his future pursuits," Moore said.
An Olympic oarsman for the US Rowing team, Nase's Big Red teams captured multiple cup races annually and posted consistent performances at the Eastern Sprints and IRA National Championship regattas. His Big Red teams featured notable highlights such as Head of the Charles and Princeton Chase victories in 2022, a course record on Lake Carnegie by the varsity eight in 2025, and the program's best finish for the IRA Presidents Trophy since 2019 when it took fourth in 2024.
"Lightweight rowing is one of our oldest and most historic sports at Cornell, with eight national titles to its credit. As we begin a national search for our next head coach, we'll be looking to build on that success with a continued focus on enhancing the student-athlete experience and cultivating a positive, connected culture."
