ITHACA, N.Y. — Fresh off its bronze-medal performance at the Head of the Charles in Boston last Saturday, the Cornell women's rowing team will look to carry that momentum into this weekend's Head of the Fish Regatta in Saratoga Springs, N.Y.
The Big Red will field 10 entries across five events on Saturday, Oct. 25, beginning with its first launch at 1:09 p.m. Cornell will compete in the Women's Collegiate Eight, Women's Collegiate 2V Eight (three entries), Collegiate Frosh/Novice Four, Collegiate Four (four entries), and Collegiate Frosh/Novice Eight.
Cornell arrives in Saratoga Springs riding high after last weekend's performance from its V4+ at the Head of the Charles, where the Big Red captured bronze in a field of 53 crews – the program's first medal at the prestigious event since 2017.
The Head of the Fish has proven to be a strong event for the Big Red in recent years. Last season, Cornell collected four medals, led by the V8+ and 2V8+ 'A' crew, who both earned silver medals. The V4+ 'A' crew claimed gold while the 'B' boat took bronze, and the novice 8+ dominated their field with a first-place finish.
In 2023, six of Cornell's 10 entries secured top-five finishes, including medals for the V8+ (3rd), 2V8+ (2nd), novice 8+ (1st), and novice 4+.
With confidence building from the Head of the Charles and a proven track record at Head of the Fish, the Big Red will aim to add to its medal collection as they continue their fall season.
