ITHACA, N.Y. — Cornell women's volleyball rolled to its second straight Ivy League victory Friday night, sweeping Harvard 3–0 (25-21, 25-19, 25-17) at Newman Arena to open Homecoming Weekend.
The Big Red (7-5, 2-0 Ivy) used a balanced attack to control the match, hitting .284 as a team while holding Harvard (2-8, 1-1 Ivy) to just .093.
Junior outside hitter Nicole Mallus led Cornell with 12 kills and a .318 hitting percentage, while Haley Clark added eight kills and eight digs. Meghan Gaffigan was a spark off the bench, hitting .636 with seven kills on 11 swings.
Setter Doga Ozalp steered the offense with 19 assists, and first-year Mikayla Gray chipped in 15 assists and three aces. Defensively, Mackenzie Parsons anchored the back row with eight digs and three blocks, while Ava Bogan tallied four block assists.
The Big Red held firm in the opening two sets, winning each by steady margins, before dominating the third with a .333 hitting percentage to close out the sweep. Cornell finished with 43 kills, six service aces and eight team blocks in the match.
Cornell will continue Ivy League tomorrow night, Saturday, Oct. 4 vs. Dartmouth at 6 p.m. in Newman Arena.
