ITHACA, N.Y. — The Cornell Department of Athletics and Physical Education, along with the Cornell men's hockey team, will honor the life and legacy of legendary goaltender Ken Dryden '69 when the Big Red hosts Brown in its ECAC Hockey home opener on Friday, Nov. 14, at 7 p.m. at Lynah Rink.

A three-time All-American and the backbone of Cornell's 1967 national championship team, Dryden remains one of the most revered figures in college hockey history. He went on to have a Hall of Fame NHL career with the Montréal Canadiens, winning six Stanley Cups, five Vezina Trophies, the Conn Smythe Trophy in 1971, and Calder Trophy in 1972, before serving as a member of Canada's Parliament and having a distinguished career as an author, lawyer, and educator.

The evening will feature several tributes to honor Dryden's impact on Cornell and the sport. The Big Red will debut a special helmet decal featuring Dryden's iconic silhouette — a symbol synonymous with one of hockey's most distinctive goaltending stances. A tribute video highlighting his life and contributions will be shown before puck drop, followed by a ceremonial puck drop with members of his Sigma Phi Society fraternity.

Members of the Dryden family, including his wife Lynda, will attend the ceremony. Throughout the evening, video messages and remembrances from teammates, alumni, and the broader Cornell hockey community will celebrate Dryden's enduring influence on the program.

"Ken Dryden's name is etched into the very foundation of Cornell hockey," said Casey Jones '90, the Jay R. Bloom '77 Head Coach of Men's Hockey. "His legacy goes far beyond the banners — it's in the pride, the preparation, and the standard every player carries into Lynah Rink."
