MIDDLEBURY, Vt. — The No. 7-ranked Cornell women's squash team swept No. 16 Middlbury 9-0 in its season opener Saturday afternoon at the Bostwick Family Squash Center.

Seven of the Big Red's nine victories came in three-game sweeps, highlighted by 3-0 victories in the first three positions by junior Xin Ying Yee, senior Alysa Ali, and freshman Vicky Lai. Joining Lai in winning their collegiate debuts was Lamees Shalaby (No. 8) and Calla Yim (No. 9).

Sophomore Sabine Ball (No. 4) and junior Christa Kay (No. 5) each won their respective matches in four games, with both players dropping the second game.

Cornell will conclude its season-opening two-game road trip on Sunday, Nov. 16, when it faces No. 15 Williams in Williamstown, Mass. Match action will begin at noon from the Simon Squash Center.

Williams (0-1) is coming off a 9-0 loss to No. 5-ranked Trinity on Saturday afternoon. All nine of the Bantams' victories came in three games.
