#7 Women's Squash Blanks #15 Williams to Complete Weekend Sweep

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — The No. 7-ranked Cornell women's squash team completed a dominant weekend sweep with a 9-0 shutout victory over No. 15 Williams. The win improved Cornell to 2-0 on the season, marking the first time the Big Red has opened 2-0 since the 2023-24 season and the first time it has not dropped a game in its first two matches since 2022-23.

Cornell showcased its depth with commanding performances across all nine positions. Senior Alysa Ali led the way at No. 1 with a 11-1, 11-7, 11-4 victory over Anika Kakarla, while freshman Vicky Lai secured a 12-10, 11-4, 11-4 win at No. 2 over Frances Brooks. Sophomore Sabine Ball dominated at No. 3, defeating Roshni Pal 11-4, 11-3, 11-2.

The middle of the lineup continued the dominance, with junior Christa Kay earning the only four-game victory of the day at No. 4, overcoming Alicia Chen 11-5, 11-8, 7-11, 11-5. Fellow junior Maya Voloshin cruised to a straight-game win at No. 5, while freshmen Lamees Shalaby and Calla Yim posted decisive victories at the sixth and seventh positions.

Senior Devon Shatzman and junior Sophia Morales closed out the sweep with impressive performances. Shatzman defeated Lucy Farman-Farmaian 11-3, 11-7, 11-3 at No. 8, while Morales delivered the most dominant result of the day at No. 9, overwhelming Anna Wong 11-1, 11-0, 11-1.

UP NEXT
Cornell will host No. 5-ranked Trinity in its home opener on Wednesday, Nov. 19, at 3 p.m. at the Belkin Squash Courts. All matches will be streamed on Stretch Internet.

The Big Red will look for its first-ever win against the Bantams, who hold a 23-0 edge in the all-time series, including 8-0 in Cornell home matches. Each of the last four meetings have been decided by 8-1 scores.
