LAST MATCH REWIND
Junior
Xin Ying Yee posted the lone victory for Cornell as the Big Red dropped its home opener to No. 5 Trinity, 8-1, on Wednesday afternoon at the Belkin Squash Courts.
Yee improved to 2-0 on the season with a dominant performance against Thanusaa Uthrian, winning in straight games, 11-9, 11-6, 11-4. The junior controlled play from the second game onward after a competitive opening set.
Despite suffering its first loss of the season, the Big Red (2-1) had freshman
Vicky Lai, sophomore
Sabine Ball, and junior
Maya Voloshin each lose in four games. Lai and Voloshin staved off straight-game losses with wins in the third game.
SCOUTING TUFTS
Tufts (1-1) will play two matches this weekend, concluding its road swing on Sunday after opening the trip against No. 23 Hamilton College this evening.
The Jumbos edged then-No. 10 Columbia, 5-4, in their season opener last Saturday, claiming victories in four of the first five positions, before being swept by No. 5 Trinity the following day.
Cornell holds an 8-1 all-time advantage over Tufts, winning eight straight matches since dropping the inaugural meeting on Jan. 18, 1997, in Williamstown, Mass. The Big Red has posted at least seven victories in each of those eight wins.
