#4 Big Red Downs RPI 4-1 at Houston Field House

RENNSEALER, N.Y. - The no. 4 Cornell women's ice hockey team defeated the RPI Engineers 4-1 on Sasturday afternoon at Houston Field House. The Big Red improved to 9-2-0 on the season, while the Engineers dropped to 4-13-0 on the season.

Abby Thibodeau, Karel Prefontaine, Georgia Schiff, and Alyssa Regalado scored Big Red goals in the contest. Schiff, Piper Grober, Grace Dwyer, Regalado, Rose Dwyer, Prefontaine, and Nora Curtis (two) were credited with assists in the game.

Thibodeau got the scoring started five minutes into the game to score Cornell's first 5-on-5 goal in 21 days to give Cornell a 1-0 lead. RPI was tabbed with a major-penalty midway through the opening frame, which Cornell made count with a pair of goals.

Prefontaine scored the first one, finding the back of the net on a one-timer. Schiff netted the puck 40 seconds later by tipping the puck past the Engineer net-minder Maelee Ambrass In the third, Regalado added another tally on the board for Cornell to extend the lead to 4-0. Mia Montanari found herself one-one-one with Bergmann as she made it count to move the score to 4-1.

Cornell held off the Engineers for the remainder of the game, earning itself a victory and a weekend split in the Albany area. Annelies Bergmann made 16 saves in the game, earning her ninth win of the season. Ambrass was tasked with stopping 30 shots in the losing effort.

The no. 4-ranked Cornell women's ice hockey team will return to the ice on Tuesday, November 25th to take on the Syracuse Orange. Puck drop is slated for 7:00 p.m. at Tennity Ice Pavilion. Game action will be broadcast on cuse.com.
