DJ Nix and sophomore Gio Panzini scored 16 points apiece and Cornell shattered single-game school records for 3-pointers made and attempted in a 114-70 rout of Misericordia on Wednesday afternoon at Newman Arena. The Big Red won its fourth straight to improve to 4-2.
The Big Red buried 24-of-56 shots from beyond the arc and finished with 35 assists, the third-highest single-game total in program history. It topped the previous marks of 22 made (vs SUNY Delhi in 2022-23) and 48 attempts (at Syracuse in 2021-22). A total of 12 different Big Red players made at least one 3-pointer. Cornell shot 53 percent from the floor overall and 91 percent at the free-throw line with all 16 players reached the scoring column.
Panzini went 6-for-6 from the field and added three rebounds in 13 minutes off the bench, while Nix was 5-for-5 from the floor and 4-for-4 from 3-point range in 18 minutes. Senior
Jake Fiegen added 14 points and four 3-pointers, and classmate
Cooper Noard chipped in 13 points and five rebounds. Junior
DaMaryon Fishburn nearly had a double-double with 12 points, nine rebounds and four 3-pointers.
Cornell turned the game into a blowout before halftime. After Misericordia briefly tied it 3-3, the Big Red ripped off a barrage from deep, hitting 16 first-half 3-pointers and shooting 65 percent from the field in the opening 20 minutes to build a 68-34 advantage at the break. Nix connected on four 3-pointers in the first half, with Noard, Fiegen and Fishburn also hitting multiple shots from long range.
The onslaught continued after intermission as Cornell scored 13 of the first 19 points of the second half and never let the lead slip below 30. The Big Red dominated the glass 48-28, turned 21 Cougar turnovers into 28 points and got 74 points from its bench. Sophomores
Mateen Rafiq and
Anthony Nimani helped drive the ball movement with seven and three assists, respectively.
Kaspar Sepp ripped down eight rebounds to go along with his four assists in the victory.
Ace Varella led Misericordia with 10 points, while Eli Stoute and Nate Townsend each scored eight. The Cougars, a MAC Freedom member, shot 40 percent from the field and 43 percent from 3-point range but could not keep pace with Cornell's record-setting perimeter display.

• The Big Red will close out November with its fourth Patriot League foe in the past five games when it visits Bucknell on Sunday, Nov. 30 at 2 p.m. at Sojka Pavilion in Lewisburg, Pa.
