Women's Tennis Concludes Fall At ITA East Sectionals

ITHACA, N.Y. -- The Cornell women's tennis team had its fall season come to an end as junior Victoria Zhao bowed out in the consolation semifinals of the ITA East Section Championship on Sunday morning at North Carolina's Chewning Tennis Center. 

Zhao fell to Syracuse's Anastasia Sysoeva by 6-2, 7-5 scores to close out the fall. She had advanced on a pair of walkovers, but slipped to 5-5 on the season with the defeat.


ITHACA, N.Y. -- Sage Loudon saw her fall season come to a close with a loss in the consolation quarterfinals at the ITA East Section Championship on Saturday morning at North Carolina's Chewning Tennis Center. Teammate Victoria Zhao earned her second straight walkover win and will play in the consolation semifinals on Sunday.

Loudon fell to South Carolina's Kaitlyn Carnicella, ranked No. 24 nationally in the ITA rankings, by a 6-2, 6-3 score. She closed her fall with a 6-5 record in singles.

Zhao will face Anastasia Sysoeva of Syracuse in the consolation semis on Sunday morning.


ITHACA, N.Y. -- Sophomore Sage Loudon joined junior Victoria Zhao in the consolation quarterfinals with a win on day two of the 2025 ITA Division I Women's East Sectional Championships at North Carolina's Chewning Tennis Center.

Loudon rallied after dropping the first set on Friday to claim a 3-6, 6-0, 10-8 victory over Columbia's Malak El Allami. She'll play second-seeded Kaitlyn Carnicella of South Carolina on Saturday morning for a spot in the consi semis. Zhao, who advanced on a walkover, will meet Marshall's Johanna Strom to advance on Saturday.


ITHACA, N.Y. -- Sophomore Sage Loudon and junior Victoria Zhao will continue play in the consolation draw after the opening day of the 2025 ITA Division I Women's East Sectional Championships at North Carolina's Chewning Tennis Center.

Both players dropped competitive matches to seeded opponents from NC State in Thursday's main draw. Zhao battled in a 6-3, 7-5 setback to Lavinia Tanasie, while Mia Slama topped Loudon 6-1, 6-1.

Zhao advanced to Saturday's consolation quarterfinals after receiving a walkover win in the Round of 16 qualifier, while Loudon will begin her consolation run Friday against Columbia's Malak El Allami.

The East Sectional is one of four national qualifying events, with six singles players from each advancing to the NCAA Singles Championship field.
