Men's Swim and Dive Earns 12 Event-Wins In 174-115 Victory Over LeMoyne

SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The Cornell men's swimming and diving team defeated the LeMoyne Dolphins 174-115 on Saturday evening at Nottingham High School. The Big Red claimed the top-spot in 12 events.

"Today was a fun meet for the guys to go out and race in a final tune up prior to championship season.  We had some guys swim events they haven't had an opportunity to race yet this season, and they stepped up with some nice performances!  We're looking forward for the last part of this season.", Wes Newman, the Philip H. Bartels '71 Head Coach of Men's Swimming mentioned.

Max Reis Trovillion started the day off strong for Cornell, winning the 3 meter dive with 330.50 points. The next best scorer was William Klingensmith who earned 274.45 points. Reis Trovillion (320.30) and Klingensmith (259.90) also topped the rankings respectively in the 1 meter dive.

A 400 yard medley relay squad of Jacques Grove, Connor Brown, Andrew Lin, and Joseph Gurski swam to a first-place time of 3:22.89. Julian Correa bested the field in the 1650 yard freestyle, earning a 15:40.05 finish.

Gurski found himself at the top of the podium for the second time on the day, this time coming in the 200 yard freestyle where he produced a time of 1:40.77.

Michael Wywrocki (23.55 seconds) outswam Will Taner (23.63 seconds) by less than one-tenth of a second to claim the victory in the 50 yard backstroke. Mac Marsh (25.97 seconds) and Phillip Osadsky (26.40 seconds) came down to the wire in the 50 yard backstroke.

Sebastian Wolff (49.79 seconds) and Alex Miao (51.67 seconds) were the top-two finishers respectively in the 100 yard butterfly. Dominic Edwards was the leader in the 50 yard freestyle, claiming a result of 21.15 seconds.

Connor Brown (47.34 seconds) collected a win in the 100 yard freestyle. Josh Toothman (51.02 seconds) earned first-place in the 100 yard backstroke. Reid Brophy and Osadsky rounded out the Big Red wins with a tie for the top-spot in the 100 yard breaststroke with their times of 56.78 seconds.

The Cornell men's swim and dive team will return to the water next weekend for a two-day meet at the Boston University Invitational.
