ITHACA, N.Y. — Ahead of its final regular-season match of the season on Saturday against No. 6-ranked Virginia, Cornell sophomore women's squash player Xin Ying Yee was unanimously named a First Team All-Ivy selection on Thursday afternoon as the Ivy League announced its 2025 Women's Squash All-Ivy Awards.

Yee's unanimous selection marks the fifth consecutive season in which a Cornell player has been named unanimously voted a First Team All-Ivy selection, joining former Big Red standouts Sivasangari Subramaniam (2020, 2022, and 2023) and Wen Li Lai (2022, 2023, and 2024).

Among the nine First Team All-Ivy honorees, Yee was among eight unanimously voted to be on the league's top team. Joining Yee was Columbia's Simmi Chan, Harvard's Caroline Fouts, Saran Ngheim, and Lucie Stefanoni, Penn's Malak Khafagy — who also earned the Ivy League's Player and Rookie of the Year awards, Princeton's Zeina Zein, and Yale's Heng Wai Wong.

Entering this weekend's matches, Yee has won a team-high 10 matches, posting a 10-2 record exclusively at the No. 1 position on the Big Red's ladder. In Ivy League matches, Yee had a 5-1 record, and four of her five victories came in straight games.

Joining Yee in earning All-Ivy honors was junior Aishwarya Khubchandani, who was named a Second Team All-Ivy selection. Khubchandani has a 6-6 record while competing at Big Red's No. 2 position.

Alysa Ali rounded out the Big Red's trio of All-Ivy honorees as she was Cornell's Academic All-Ivy selection.

The No. 7-ranked Cornell women's squash team (6-6, 2-4 Ivy League) concluded conference action with a resounding 7-2 victory on Senior Day over No. 9-ranked Columbia (3-8, 1-5 Ivy League) at the Belkin Squash Courts on Saturday afternoon.

Yee (No. 1), Khubchandani (No. 2), senior Ananya Dabke (No. 3), and Ali (No. 4) all registered straight-game victories in the top four matches. Sophomore Maya Voloshin (No. 6) also logged a win in three games.

Junior Devon Shatzman edged out Advita Sharma for a five-game victory at the No. 8 position, as each of the five games alternated winners. Also posting a triumph for the Big Red was freshman Saniya Jaggi, who won after Eugenia Li retired following the conclusion of the third game.

SCOUTING VIRGINIA
Virginia enters this weekend's matches with an 8-4 overall record. The Cavaliers fell to No. 4-ranked Stanford in the Gaynor Cup Final of the MASC Championships in Lancaster, Pa., last Sunday.

Saturday will be the first time Virginia will participate in a dual match since it defeated Drexel, 8-1, on Jan. 19 in Charlottesville, Va.

Claire Pellegrino (8-0), Lina Tammam (8-2), and Clare Minnis (8-3) are all tied for the team lead in victories with eight. Pellegrino has won her last nine matches, dating back to last year, while Tammam has won her last six dual matches. Meagan Best has a 6-4 record, competing exclusively from the Cavaliers' top position on the ladder.

SERIES WITH VIRGINIA
Cornell and Virginia will be meeting for the ninth time on Saturday. The Cavaliers own a 6-2 lead in the series against the Big Red, who won the lone home match against Virginia at the Belkin Squash Courts, 8-1, in the inaugural meeting on Dec. 2, 2017.

Virginia has won the last five matches against Cornell, with the Big Red posting at least three victories in each contest. Last season, Virginia edged out Cornell, 5-4, in the regular-season finale on Feb. 18, 2024. Khubchandani, Voloshin, and Jaggi all had three-game victories, while Ali won in five games against Maureen Foley.
