ITHACA, N.Y. -- The Cornell women's lacrosse team set school record for goals (24), assists (17) and points (41) in a dominating 24-7 victory over Niagara on Tuesday afternoon at Schoellkopf Field. The Big Red improved to 3-1 with the lopsided victory, while the Purple Eagles slipped to 1-3.
The Big Red offense was dominant in a game that saw the running clock for nearly 39 minutes of action as the home team had a double-digit lead throughout. The 24 goals was one better than that 23 scored three times previously, while its 17 assists was two more than the previous mark at Jacksonville in 2012. Cornell scored 37 points in that game, a mark surpassed by the 41 on Tuesday afternoon.
While 18 different players found the scoring column, it was
Kylie Gelabert and
Ella Wilmot that shone the brightest. Gelabert's seven goals (on seven shots) and nine points on the day were both one off the single-game school mark, while Wilmot had a hat trick do go along with her five assists - also one off the single-game record.
Caitlin Slaminko had three goals and two assists,
Josie Vogel scored twice with a helper and both
Dillyn Patten and
Kathleen Michaud had multi-point afternoons.

Niagara got a pair of goals from both Maddy Gill and Giordan Peck, while Sydney Huhtala had a strong all-around day with four ground balls, three caused turnovers and a pair of draw controls. Peck also won seven draws for Niagara.
