Box Score WASHINGTON, D.C. -- The Cornell women's tennis collected its second consecutive sweep with a 4-0 triumph over Howard on Saturday afternoon at Banneker Recreation Center. The Big Red improved to 8-3 overall, while the Bison fell to 4-5.
After sweeping the doubles point with victories at No. 1 and No. 3, Cornell ripped through three consecutive singles victories in straight sets. Dominant efforts by
Sage Loudon at No. 3 (only surrendering three games) and
Andrea Martinez De Los Rios at No. 6 (losing only four) set the tone and put Cornell up 3-0 and on the precipice of its first win of the weekend. Cornell closed the victory out with a second set tiebreaker for
Victoria Zhao at No. 2, taking home a 6-4, 7-6 (1) triumph.
Martinez De Los Rios was the lone double winner of the day, teaming with
Jenny Wong at No. 3 doubles for a 6-4 win to cinch the victory.
The Big Red returns to action when it meets Georgetown on Sunday, March 16 at 10:45 a.m. at Georgetown Prep.
