THE BRONX, N.Y. -- The Cornell men's tennis team swept the first four singles matches and got back to its winning ways with a 4-1 triumph over VCU on Sunday morning at Cary Leeds Tennis Center. The Big Red improved to 9-4 overall, while VCU fell to 5-6.
After dropping the doubles point to start the day, the Big Red won four singles matches in straight sets and was leading in the other two when those matches concluded, ensuring a victory.
Adit Sinha at No. 1 and
Jack McCarthy at No. 2 cruised to victory to give Cornell the lead, surrendering just seven games total.
Felipe Pinzon won a tiebreaker in the second set to win at No. 5, and
Aman Sharma closed out the victory with a 6-4, 6-4 win at No. 6
Cornell returns to action when it travels to Waco, Texas to battle No. 17 Baylor on Sunday, March 9 at 11 a.m.
