Big First Half Leads Women's Lacrosse Past New Hampshire, 16-6

DURHAM, N.H. -- The Cornell women's lacrosse scored 11 seconds into the game, then scored 11 consecutive times in the first half en route to a dominant 16-6 win over New Hampshire on Monday afternoon at Wildcat Field. The Big Red improved to 8-3 on the season, while the Wildcats slipped to 2-9.

Dillyn Patten scored three goals and assisted on another and found the back of the net just 11 seconds into the contest to set the tone for a win that saw Cornell playing much of the contest with a running clock. Seven different players had multi-point efforts and 11 scored a goal as the Big Red's balanced attack proved too much for the Wildcats. Kylie Gelabert scored a goal and added two assists along with three of the visitors' 12 caused turnovers on the day. Cornell held a 16-8 edge in draw controls, including 13-3 in the decisive first half with Ellie Bergin winning six to herself.

Cornell forced nine turnovers on the ride, forcing UNH to a miserable 10-of-19 day getting the ball into its offensive zone. Lexie Tulley added two goals, two ground balls, two caused turnovers and a pair of draw controls in the victory and Cameron Traveis had a goal, four draws, three ground balls and a caused turnover. The Big Red had a 39-11 edge in shots, a 20-12 advantage off the ground and turned the ball over just eight times to UNH's 21.

Wildcats' goalkeeper Ellie Thomas made an impressive 16 saves, with Allie Connerty and Makayla Keys registering a goal and an assist each.
