ITHACA, N.Y. –Cornell softball (13-13, 4-7 IVY) drops the opening double header to Princeton (16-13, 10-1 IVY) on Sunday at Niemand-Robison Softball Field in Ivy League Series.
Cornell got hung up at the plate, not putting any runs on the board till the final innings of each game.
Game One – Cornell 2, Princeton 7
Cornell grabbed their first hit in the bottom of the third with a double from Maddie Ullensvang as Princeton held a 1-0 lead. The Tigers put together a five-run inning with a grad slam from Zhang to break open the lead to 6-0.
Cornell tried to put together a seventh inning rally adding two runs off hits from Ullensvang, Ella Harrod and Emma Harshberger but fell short ending the game 7-2 Princeton.
Game Two – Cornell 2, Princeton 12
The second game started in the same fashion as the first as the Tigers got a 4-0 jump on the Big Red after the first inning.
Charlize Cai poked a single out to center field in the second inning for a Big Red hit. Then Sydney Staff and Addison Pressley added two more in the third but also couldn't get around.
Going into the bottom of the fifth Princton held the lead at 12-0. The Big Red would try to rally once again added two runs off hits from Emma Antich, Pressley and Harrod but the Tigers would end the game early with a 12-2 victory over the Big Red to take the series.
GAME NOTES
Ella Harrod turned her fourth double play of the season with a line drive and flip back to second.
Cornell is yet to be shut out in Ivy League play.
After Sunday's games, Cornell's all-time record against Princeton moved to 48-39.

Cornell will play the final game of the series at 11:30 a.m. tomorrow against Princeton.
The midweek double header against Ithaca College has been canceled so the Big Red will hit the field one more time at home next weekend against Penn.
