PHILADELPHIA, Pa. -- Penn broke open an early 2-2 contest behind nine goals from Anna Brandt and 13 saves by Orly Sedransk to capture an 18-10 win over Cornell on Saturday afternoon at Franklin Field. The 16th-ranked Quakers upped their record to 8-5 (4-2 Ivy), while the Big Red slipped to 9-6 (3-3 Ivy).

Brandt's nine goals came alongside four ground balls and four draw control wins with the senior squeezing off 14 shots. Two of Brandt's goals came on empty-net scores in the final minute to tie the school's single-game school record. Sedransk was comfortable against the Big Red's high-scoring offense, making 13 total saves. Catherine Berkery added a hat trick, Keeley Block had two goals and three assists and Erika Chung was credited with a goal and four helpers. The Quakers had a 20-11 advantage at the draw circle, with Maggie Bankowski scooping up nine and Natasha Gorriaran posting six. Tied 2-2 after trading goals early, Penn converted on five straight opportunities to go up 7-2 with Brandt scoring five of those goals. The Big Red got within 8-5 early in the second quarter and had a pair of possessions to cut into the lead further, but the Quakers instead capitalized with eight consecutive goals and never looked back.
Cornell never gave up, even after going down 11 goals and facing a running clock. The Big Red outscored the Quakers 5-0, making it interesting for a moment, but ran out of time in slipping back to .500 in Ivy play. Penn scored twice in the final 46 seconds on an empty net with the Big Red trying to pressure to cap the scoring.
