Women's Track and Field Team Up With Penn for Transatlantic Series Against Cambridge and Oxford

ITHACA, N.Y. – The Cornell women's track and field will compete in an age-old tradition as they team up with Penn to compete against Achilles Club (Cambridge and Oxford) at the historic Transatlantic Series. Penn is slated to host this series at Franklin Field this Friday.

The last time these teams matched up together was in 2023 on the East Hill, which resulted in the 14th straight victory for the Ivy League combo, who beat out their English counterparts by 18 points. Cornell and Penn have won 21 matches to Oxford and Cambridge's 4, with 3 ties.

More specifically the women's team has never lost and even claimed solo victories in 1989 and 1985 before combining with Penn.

MEET INFO

The Transatlantic Series will tentatively start at 11 a.m. with the women's hammer throw as the first field event with the 3000m steeplechase shortly after at 1 p.m.

Cornell women's track and field make a debut at first in the Northeast region of the USTFCCCA Regional Track & Field Rating Index and come in second in the Ivy League only behind Penn.

Haquet has earned a top 15 time in her 5000m debut. With a time of 15:53.23, Haquet is ranked 12th in the NCAA.

LAST TIME OUT

Cornell women's track and field traveled to the 2025 adidas Raleigh Relays competing in the latter half of the meet setting multiple personal best and a new school record.

Augustine Haquet delivered a standout performance breaking a 11 year old record, finishing 13th in the 5000m with a time of 15:53.23, setting a new school record in her 5000m debut.

Freshman Tenley Nelson was the top finisher for the Big Red in the 1500m placing 108th in her first outdoor meet. Mairead Clas ran a personal best time of 16:14.05 to place 34th in the 5000m while Maisie McManus recorded a personal best in the 1500m with a time of 4:30.24 and Gwen Parks notched personal bests in both the 800m, clocking 2:10.45.

UP NEXT

The Big Red will attend two meets next weekend at the Bison Outdoor Challenge hosted by Bucknell and the South Florida Invitational both starting on Friday April 11.
