NEW YORK, N.Y. –Cornell softball (16-18, 6-11 IVY) dropped both games of Ivy double headers to Columbia (19-16, 11-6 IVY) on the road.
Game One Cornell 0, Columbia 9
Columbia held the Big Red to a three-hit game for the first game of the series.
Emma Harshberger got the first hit of the game for the Big Red in the first inning followed by a hit in the second from Hailey Pirkey.
Columbia's biggest inning came in the second where they scored five runs off four hits to gain a 7-0 lead. The Lions would add two more in the third.
Pirkey got a second hit in the top of the fifth before the game ended 9-0 in favor of the Lions.
Game Two Cornell 4, Columbia 8
Columbia started the second game with a 3-0 lead after the first.
The Big Red started the top of the second inning with two free base runners before Emma Antich would step up to the plate. Antich knocked a single out to left field to score Pirkey for Cornell's first run of the day. Addison Pressley added a single of her own to load up the bases followed by a two RBI single from Ella Harrod to right field to tie up the game 3-3.
Columbia took the lead back in the bottom of the inning, adding four runs.
Each team was held for two innings until the fifth inning. Pressley started the inning with a bunt that resulted in a single. Harshberger then beat out a throw for a RBI double.
The Lions would add one more run in the sixth to take the game 8-4.
