Another Two Meet Weekend For Women's Track and Field

ITHACA, N.Y. – The Cornell women's track and field take on two meets this weekend. A majority of the team will compete at the Bison Outdoor Challenge hosted by Bucknell while a few small groups travel down to University of South Florida for the South Florida Invitational.

BISON OUTDOOR INVITATIONAL MEET INFO

The Bison Outdoor Classic is a three-day event spanning from Saturday to Monday with packed fields each day. The women will start Saturday with the shot put at 12 p.m. followed by the 800m at 11:30 a.m.

SOUTH FLORIDA INVITE MEET INFO

The South Florida Invite is a two-day event with the men competing on Friday and events starting up on Saturday for the Big Red women at 2 p.m. with the long jump and then 5:20 p.m. with the 4x100 relay.

Cornell will be sending mostly a small group of sprinters and relay teams.

THE RANKINGS

Cornell women's track and field drop to second in the Northeast region of the USTFCCCA Regional Track & Field Rating Index and remain second in the Ivy League only behind Penn.

LAST TIME OUT

Cornell women's track and field paired with Penn defended their long-standing title at the Transatlantic Series defeating the Achilles Club (Cambridge and Oxford) 14-5.

The Big Red contributed to 12 of the 14 points earned with 12 first place finishes.

Avery Hastings took first place in the hammer throw as Noelle Elkinton followed suit with a personal-best of her own, hurling the discus 47.04 meters to lock down another first-place finish.

Out on the runway, Madelyn Packer and Anika Sukumar did their part in each of the jumping events, each earning their way to the top of the podium.

Tia Taylor took the point with a new personal best in the100m hurdles in a time of 14.41. Reyne Rodrigues ran the 400m hurdles in 59.74 to take first place. Natasha Redmond took the 100m in a personal-best time of 11.96. alongside Imani Reid in the 200m with a 24.13 first place finish. Katja Jackson rounded out the Big Red scorers in the 800m with a time of 2:09.10 to earn another team point.

The 4x100 and 4x400 relay teams with a mix of Penn and Cornell athletes also added points for the team score.

UP NEXT

The Big Red will take a short trip down the road to the Cortland Classic on April 18-19.
