Hilliard Sets HEPS Meet Record: Women's Track and Field Podium Four and Qualify Nine For Finals

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Cornell women's track and field found podium placements in four events at the opening day of the 2025 Ivy League Outdoor Heptagonal Championships while qualifying nine for day two on Saturday. The women currently sit in third in the team overall standing with 20 points.

Avery Hilliard took the gold in the pole vault while setting a meet record, personal best, and school record with a clearance of 4.32m. Teammate Quincy Hansen also delivered, clearing 4.02m to finish fifth. The two combined for 12 points for the team.

Avery Hastings threw a personal-best 57.39m in the hammer throw, earning a fourth-place finish.

In the distance events, Mairead Clas clocked 34:41.72 in the 10,000 meters, securing fourth place on the track.

In the women's heptathlon, Paula-Marie Brown sits in fourth place after the first day of competition, compiling 3,219 points through the opening four events.

The women's team also qualified nine individuals to compete for more team points and individual championships in the finals tomorrow.
