CAMBRIDGE, Mass. –Cornell softball (16-20, 6-13 IVY) falls in two games to Harvard (24-11, 13-6 IVY) on the road in Ivy double header.
Game One Cornell 0, Harvard 2
The first game of the series started with a pitcher's duel as each team was held to no runs through the first four and half innings.
Cornell however produced three of their four hits at the top of the second to leave the bases loaded with Charlize Cai, Sydney Stapf and Addison Pressley left on base. Hailey Pirkey then hit a double to left field to start the fourth inning.
Harvard then put the first run on the board in the bottom of the fifth inning with a RBI double and then another in the sixth with a sacrifice fly.
Game One Cornell 1, Harvard 5
The Crimson started on top in the second game with a three-run third inning.
Emma Harshberger and Cai each added a double in the fourth and fifth innings go along with Lauren Holt's single in the first inning.
Pirkey strikes again in the final inning of the day with a solo home run over the right center fence.
Game Notes
- Charlize Cai adds another double to her stats, leading the team with nine.
- Hailey Pirkey hit her seventh career home run with a solo shot in the seventh.
- Hailey Pirkey and Lauren Holt each stole a base for Cornell's 40th this season in 45 attempts.
- Kyrie Denny and Milia Fiordalisi totaled for five strikeouts on the day.
