Six To Join Big Red Men's Hoops For 2025-26 Season

ITHACA, N.Y. – The Cornell men's basketball team will welcome six newcomers for the upcoming 2025-26 campaign. The four freshmen and two junior transfers will help Cornell in its quest for the program's first Ivy League title since 2009-10. 

Biographies for each of the incoming players are below:

Jax Abalos
Forward • Freshman • 6-8 200 Batavia, Ill. (Batavia Senior HS)
Earned special mention all-state honors as a senior captain at Batavia Senior HS ... two-time all-conference and all-area selection ... averaged 16.4 points and 7.8 rebounds on 51 percent shooting ... shot 39 percent from 3-point range ... led his team to a regional title as a junior ... twice chosen to the academic all-conference team ... earned all-tournament honors in the Batavia Thanksgiving Tournament and the Jack Tosh Christmas Tournament.
 
Ryan Burbach
Guard Freshman • 6-3 • 185 • Phoenix, Ariz. (Brophy College Prep)
Was a two-time first-team all-region player at Brophy College Prep ... named Offensive Player of the Year as both a junior and senior ... helped lead team to a state title as a senior captain, scoring 11 points with eight rebounds, three assists and two steals in the championship game ... averaged 10.5 points and 5.3 rebounds per game as a junior while shooting 40 percent from 3-point range.
 
DaMaryon Fishburn
Guard Junior • 6-5 • 190 • Detroit, Mich. (Trillium Academy/Macomb CC)
Played two seasons at Macomb Community College ... averaged 12.7 points, 7.5 rebounds, 3.1 assists, 0.8 steals and 0.8 blocks while starting 33 of the team's 34 games ... shot 56 percent from the floor overall and 45 percent from 3-point range ... scored 569 points with 348 rebounds and 137 assists in 66 career games ... registered five double-doubles as a sophomore ... team placed fifth nationally at the NJCAA Division II championship ... went 61-10 in two seasons at Macomb with a pair of conference titles and top seven national finishes ... named Michigan Associated Press Division 4 Player of the Year as a senior at Trillium Academy ... averaged 23.0 points,  8.0 rebounds and 4.0 steals per game in his final season, leading the program to its first-ever regional championship ... team was ranked No. 1 in the state for much of his senior year ... named to the all-News-Herald first team ... scored 1,359 career points.
 
Elijah Griffin
Guard Freshman • 6-2 • 165 • Kenosha, Wis. (Salem Lakes HS)
Was a three-time first-team all-league selection at Salem Lakes HS ... posted 21.7 points, 4.1 rebounds, 8.0 assists and 3.3 steals per game on 41-37-85 shooting as a senior captain ... was a finalist for the state's top senior point guard by Wisconsin Sports Network ... averaged 20.4 points, 3.5 rebounds, 6.5 assists and 2.7 steals per contest his junior campaign ... averaged 14.2 points, 3.9 rebounds and 7.2 assists per game as a sophomore ... set a school record with 25 assists in a victory over Kenosha Tremper that season ... closed his career with 1,459 points, 298 rebounds (3.5 rpg.), a school-record 567 assists (6.7 apg.), and 219 steals (2.6 spg.) over his four-year varsity career ... made 186 3-pointers as a varsity player, shooting 40 percent from beyond the arc ... helped his team to a pair of conference titles, three regional championships and a sectional crown.
 
Blake Lecklitner
Forward Freshman • 6-9 • 210 • Prosper, Texas (Prosper HS)
Captured second-team all-district honors as a senior at Prosper HS ... averaged 11.0 points and 6.6 rebounds per game in his final season ... academic all-state selection as a senior ... earned all-district defensive team honors ... averaged 10.7 points and 7.0 rebounds per game as a junior ... was an academic all-district pick as a junior.
 
Kaspar Sepp
Forward Junior • 6-7 • 220 • Tartu, Estonia (Hugo Treffner Gymnasium/Valparaiso University)
Played two seasons at Valparaiso ... two-year starter (36 starts in 62 career games played) ... averaged 3.7 points, 4.9 rebounds and 1.2 assists on 49 percent shooting while playing 19.1 minutes per contest over two seasons ... scored 11 points with 15 rebounds and three assists in a double overtime loss at Bradley in 2024-25, one of four games with double figure rebounds ... four career double figure scoring games ... spent the 2022-23 season at Fairmont Academy ... played for the Estonian national team during the summer of 2023 summer ... helped Estonia beat Finland to earn a promotion to the A Division during the summer of 2022 ... averaged 5.0 points, 4.2 rebounds and 2.0 assists at the 2023 FIBA U20 European Championship.
